Karis £300 million vision for the King Alfred receives the support of the City Council

Karis Holdings is delighted that Brighton and Hove City council has approved the Stage C designs for the £300m King Alfred Project.

Karis Holdings spokesperson Heather James said: “This is wonderful news and we are very pleased. Frank Gehry now has the opportunity to develop his design concept to create something truly outstanding for Brighton and Hove.”

The Stage C plans indicate the basic site plan and the layout of the sports centre.

The Project is being designed by the world renowned architect Frank Gehry and the proposals will deliver the City’s requirements for a state of the art sport and leisure centre, estimated to cost £45million, and up to 750 apartments, 40% of which will be affordable homes. The world’s leading sport and arena architects, HOK Sport are collaborating with Frank Gehry to design the sports centre element of the scheme and Antony Gormley, Britain’s foremost sculptor and artist has been commissioned by Karis Holdings to create public artwork for the site.
